ALGORITHMIC URBANISM

This travelling workshop introduced students to design methods that utilise algorithms and rule-based techniques to deal with constantly varying parameters and information inherent in Urban Design, the premise being that urban computational systems enable real-time incorporation of varying properties and parameters through the implementation of information.

The chosen sites were all heavily characterised by industrial aftermath and students groups were asked to developing proposals dealing with urban phenomena like shrinkage, growth, connectivity, programmatic optimisation, and emergence.
