Our first workshop took place at the AA’s Design Research Laboratory and had as a goal to pass on and continue research conducted by student team “Sugar Inc.” on algorithm-based architectural design (www.sugar-inc-architecture.com). Following an introduction into Maya MEL-programming students explored scripting-based design methods addressing cellular automata, responsive geometry generation, programmatic and structural optimisation strategies and generative algorithms.
